Mimpi yang Aneh

“I saw you were peeling an apple and cut it into two pieces in the same size. Then you gave me one and took the other for yourself. I bit it… that was the sweetest apple that I have ever tasted.” Demikian ringkas Fahri menceritakan mimpinya kepada Maria.

“So sweet… then what happened?”

Fahri berpikir sejenak, ragu meneruskan ceritanya.

“I’d rather not telling you what happened next. You may not be happy to know it”. Fahri memutuskan tidak menceritakan semuanya. Ia khawatir akan membuat Maria cemburu.

Maria diam, sekilas ia menatap ke arah Fahri. “It’s awright, I trust you. Hope your dream brings good news. Now please tell me how you could be in Sydney. I heard that you won scholarship to the Sorbonne university.”

“That’s right. But before that, I also won scholarship to UTS in Sydney. They called me first. I knew that I won scholarship to the Sorbonne uni when I was already in Sydney. Yourself, I thought you won scholarship to the Oxford. How could you be in Sydney?” Fahri balik bertanya.

“That’s true, Fahri. But I couldn’t leave my mother alone after my father’s death. He died a few days after my graduation ceremony. My mother was so sad, she couldn’t live in the place where everything reminded her of my father. As you know, I have a step brother. He stayed at our home. My mother and I then moved to Sydney. My mother has a sister here doing some business. Then I pursued my study in UNSW.” Maria bercerita dengan mata berkaca-kaca.

“I’m sorry Maria, please accept my condolences on your father’s death.” (Bersambung)
